About Us

What is the Society of St. Vincent de Paul?

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul is a lay Catholic charitable organization dedicated to serving the poor.

It began in 1833, almost 200 years ago, with a group of French college students who wanted to put their Catholic faith into action. Their leader was then 20 year-old Frederic Ozanam, who was inspired by the work and teachings of St. Vincent de Paul, the patron saint of charitable societies. Today, it is a worldwide organization with more than 800,000 members working in 154 countries.

What is the St. William Conference?

Most of the work of the Society is done by local groups called "conferences." Our St. William conference in Round Rock, Texas, serves neighbors who live within the parish boundaries of St. William Catholic Church. All of our funding comes from the generosity of the parishioners of St. William Church and other individual donors. We witness God's love through works of charity.
